Creating harmony between spouses and sleep


When it comes to sharing a bed, compromise is key. There are a lot of factors – snoring, cover-stealing, temperature discrepancies – that can affect each individual's rest in a night. One of the major, but overlooked, reasons for less-than-satisfactory sleep has to do with timing. Our individual body clocks don't always sync with our partner's clocks, which results in disturbing the early bird who is already asleep or creating a restless feeling for the night owl.

Preliminary research from this Wall Street Journal article, reports that couples with close relationships are living longer. Scientists point to healthy sleep habits as a major contributing factor.
