Studies show sleep deprivation is linked to multiple health problems like weight gain and Alzheimer’s, but now researchers show a direct link between poor sleep and accelerated cancer growth.
The study, published in the journal Cancer Research, showed that fragmented sleep patterns cause tumors to grow twice as large as normal. Study Director Dr. David Gozal notes it’s the weakened immune system that causes the tumor to grow quickly.
